Maschine+ has the same form factor as Maschine mk3, all the way down to the layout of each button. But as the functionality, features and libraries grew, can NI really cram over a decade of innovation and updates into a single box, minus the laptop screen, without compromising on usability? Let’s find out. Maschine mk1 was born - a bespoke piece of hardware tied to a bespoke piece of software, promising to make the best of both the physical and digital worlds.įast forward 12 years and things have come full circle with Maschine+ - Native Instruments’ first completely standalone version of Maschine, no computer required. But the fact remained when it came to hands-on beat making, be it the immediacy, workflow or sound, many still longed for a modern MPC-style solution. Despite its sound, legacy and aforementioned workflow, it was phased out in favour of bigger screens, more CPU and flexibility offered by the modern DAWs. No piece of hardware encapsulated that elusive ‘workflow’ better than the Akai MPC, a legendary sampler and ‘groovebox’ used by everyone from J Dilla and MF Doom to Mark Ronson and Kanye West. Computers had become powerful enough to supersede hardware-packed studios that came before, meaning that while in-the-box music-making was possible, powerful and largely prefered, the tactile feedback and focused workflow of hardware was missing from the modern studio. When Native Instruments first released Maschine, it was attempting to fill a gap.

On April 8, 2020, it was stated that the record has partnered up with the South Korean girl group (G)I-dle after the release of their third EP I Trust, marking the group's official debut in the US. Twice's signing represents a diversifying market for K-pop in the US. Twice will be first artist from JYP Entertainment to be powered under the alliance. In 2020, Republic Records partnered up with JYP Entertainment for the South Korean girl group Twice as the group's first American label and distributor. Five Republic albums (Ariana Grande's Thank U, Next, Taylor Swift's Lover, Post Malone's Beerbongs & Bentleys, Drake's Scorpion and Post Malone's Hollywood's Bleeding) also appeared in the top 10 of the year-end Billboard 200 chart. Republic was also named Billboard 's Hot 100 Label of the Year for the sixth straight time. It has been Billboard 's label of the year for 4 of the last 5 years and Variety 's for each of the last three. Īlso in 2019, Republic Records was named the "Label of the Year" by both Billboard and Variety. Early 2019 saw the signing of a reunited Jonas Brothers, as well. The soundtrack's lead single was Post Malone and Swae Lee's " Sunflower" which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and broke the record for most weeks in the top ten of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at 45. In December of that year, Republic partnered with Sony Pictures on the release of the soundtrack for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. In 2018, Taylor Swift signed to Republic Records after releasing her music through the Republic imprint, Big Machine Records, for a majority of her career. In November 2017, the company was named Variety 's Hitmaker Label of the Year. Also in 2015, the label signed American rapper and singer, Post Malone. Republic Records had songs in six of the top-10 spots on the Mediabase Top 40 Chart in 2015, tying a 2013 record. In addition to artists' albums, the label has released soundtracks with the Fox Broadcasting Company ( Star), NBC ( The Voice), and former UMG parent Universal Pictures ( Fifty Shades and Sing), among numerous other partnerships, films, and television series. Just prior to the label's return to the Republic name, it signed Canadian artist The Weeknd through his imprint label, XO. In October 2012, Universal Republic Records returned to the Republic Records moniker. In August 2011, the restructured Universal Republic signed Ariana Grande to a record contract. Universal Republic Records became a stand-alone label and the Universal Motown Republic Group was shut down. Universal Motown Records was shut down, transferring its artists to the newly recreated Motown Records or Universal Republic Records. Other changes were made at the label's parent, Universal Motown Republic Group, during the summer of 2011. Monte Lipman became the president and CEO of the restructured label while Avery Lipman served as co-president and COO. In 2006, corporate restructuring saw the formation of Universal Republic Records through a merger between the two labels. Monte Lipman was named president of the Universal Records label, while Avery Lipman became Republic's president. In January 2000, it was announced that the Universal Music Group acquired the Lipman brothers' Republic Records as a wholly owned subsidiary. Republic Records was formed in 1995 as a subsidiary of MCA's Geffen Records, but soon after its foundation, the distribution changed to the newly established Universal Records. They began putting records out as a hobby, the first of which was the Bloodhound Gang's Dingleberry Haze. Lipman stated that both had previously been employed by record companies and were in between jobs at the time. History Foundation and Universal Records: 1994–2005 Īccording to Avery Lipman, he and his brother Monte conceived the idea for Republic Records at their apartment in New York. Republic was initially an imprint of the Universal/Motown Records Group, and was renamed Universal Republic Records after a reorganization in 2006 before going back to its original name in 2012. Based in New York City, it was founded by Avery Lipman and Monte Lipman as an independent label in 1995, and was acquired by UMG in 2000. Beeswax has a grainy texture, which can cause it to smudge easily when applied to wood. Their texture is different, with carnauba wax having a smoother texture of two. Color and Textureīoth carnauba and beeswax are yellow. The wax extracts are then refined to obtain pure carnauba wax. The process of getting carnauba wax starts by beating the wax off dried Brazilian palm fronds. Carnauba is extracted from a Brazilian palm plant known as Copernicia prunifera. Making a beeswax finish or polish at home is also easier than carnauba wax. Source and Availabilityīeeswax is more common and readily available to most people. Check out our article on the best wax for wood furniture. Because carnauba wax is harder, it has a higher sheen than beeswax when used on wood products. Beeswax Effect on Woodīoth carnauba wax and beeswax are great for wood finish or furniture polisher use. As a natural product, you can also make your beeswax finish or polish it at home easily. One hundred percent beeswax is also safe for use with food-grade items without the risk of ingesting chemicals. Unlike carnauba wax, beeswax is softer, has a lower melting point, and produces a medium shine when used on wood.īeeswax is easier to buff on wood because of its soft nature. It is derived from honeycombs, which bees use to use honey and protect their larvae. What is Beeswax?īeeswax is the most common type of natural wax around. For this reason, carnauba wax is often mixed with softer waxes, like paraffin and beeswax, to make it easier to buff. However, its hardness makes it harder to buff out when used alone. Carnauba wax also has a higher melting point, at 180 degrees Fahrenheit.īecause of its hardness, when applied to wood, carnauba wax produces a higher shine than other waxes. This wax is yellow in color and is very hard compared to other types of waxes. What is Carnauba Wax?Ĭarnauba wax is a type of natural wax that is extracted from the leaves of a Brazilian palm tree. In this article, we’ll compare beeswax to carnauba wax to help you know which one to use. However, there are other types of natural waxes, such as paraffin wax and carnauba wax. Until recently, beeswax was the main type of wax used in finishing. Wax can be derived from both natural and synthetic materials. It is used as a primary wood finish and as a polish over other types of wood finishes. Wax is one of the oldest wood finishes around. Is it short, is it long, is it more in the chest or can you feel it in the belly too – notice without judgement. Start by just noticing the breath before you change it in any way. Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly. Sit in a comfortable seated position with the hips raised on a brick or a cushion. You will do this by bringing your attention to the breath before you start which will give you an anchor to come back to when you get distracted with your ‘to do’ lists throughout your practice (which is completely natural and part of the practice!). You will also tap into the calming effect of yoga and embed it into our mindframe for the day ahead. This sequence will gently mobilise all the joints and surrounding muscles first before progressing towards actively stabilising them. There are two main aims, from a physical point of view, you want to achieve in your morning practice – mobility and stability (flexibility & strength). These three foundational poses are very strong poses when they are approached by actively pressing into the ground, hugging the muscles to your midline and drawing your navel towards your spine.ĮXPLORING A GENTLE MORNING FLOW IN YOUR PRACTICE These poses will strengthen and warm up your muscles by using a pressing action into the ground. In the following poses after the initial warm up you will find three isometric poses – Tadasana/Mountain, Plankasana/Plank & Utkatasana/Chair. The second way is with isometric contraction, or by actively pressing against a surface until you feel a warm sensation in the muscles. The first, which you will be more familiar with, is through a series of gentle mobilising movements at the very start of the practice. In the sequence there are two different ways you will warm up the muscles. If you pull Blutac without warming it up first it will rip in two! Your muscles are like Blutac – if you spend a bit of time gently lengthening and contracting the fibres of the muscles they become more stretchy and smooth. Warmed up muscles will be more obliging and supple. In this calmer state of mind you are focused and able to make informed decisions.īefore you start it is good to gently warm up all the joints and muscles – like you are politely asking them permission to move. When this conscious breath is practiced as part of your daily routine it rewires your brain to naturally reach for this calmer reaction rather than a ‘flight or flight’ response to situations. Morning yoga stimulates the gut, promotes good digestion for the day, boosts the metabolism, builds a strong immune system, balances hormones, tones your muscles, improves posture and spine health, gives you energy, improves circulation, supports good heart health, builds healthy lungs and most importantly is proven to make you happier! Breath awareness in yoga triggers the ‘rest, restore and digest’ nervous system through the vagus nerve which runs from the brain stem down the spine. Ask yourself what do you need physically? What do you need mentally? What are your energy levels? What is your mood today? What are your limitations? What is the rest of your day like? Where do you need mobility? Where do you need stability? You may not easily have the answer to each question but it will help remind you if you have an injury you are minding, if you need to go easy because you have a full day ahead or if you are dealing with something else in life that might require you to be extra kind to yourself. You are also more inclined to make healthy choices throughout your day when you have started with some self care.īefore each morning practice take a few moments to work out how your practice can support you today. Embedding a self care routine into your day cultivates a sense of calm, makes you feel more cared for and listened to – and in return makes you more caring and available to listen to others too. This more upright posture has a very positive effect on your mood and creates emotional openness for the day. Gentle movement realigns the spine and helps you to stand, walk and sit more comfortably throughout the day with awareness of your posture. Starting the day with your practice ensures that it is consistently part of your routine and doesn’t get lost on a busy day. It gets rid of stagnation and brings mobility and stability back after a prolonged static period of sleep. Starting your day with a morning movement routine is the best way to get the day started physically and mentally. Other reasons for gelatin source authentication include: (i) protection of consumer from food frauds due to false labeling and avoid unfair market competition ( Kesmen et al. Traceability of gelatin source has been a great task in Halal field. Gelatin and gelatin based products are currently classified as doubtful because haram (porcine) gelatin is the most abundant. The musical film is a touchstone for millions across the globe who have grown up under its spell. MGM’s 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz, filmed in the dawning days of Technicolor-and decades before CGI and high-tech special effects-is a hand-crafted cinematic achievement anchored by its extraordinary cast: Judy Garland as Dorothy, Ray Bolger as The Scarecrow, Jack Haley as The Tin Man, and Bert Lahr as The Cowardly Lion. The subtle reminder that while Naked Snake might be the hero of this game, you know he has a darker, more ruthless turn waiting in store. The thing that really reminds you of the moral grime and dirty dealings of the espionage world during the height of the cold war. The knife is the raw edge of the game, the old fashioned kind of murder that grounds the action in spite of all the bumblebee-men and ghost-astronauts you fight. You’re supposed to have that image of the knife floating around in your head while you play. Say I’m reading too much into it (this wouldn’t be the first time when it comes to the MGS series), but I don’t think that was a mistake or a coincidence. Staring at the screen dull-eyed and mechanical, gone blood-simple in my single-minded dedication to the knife. I’d use a cheat code to lock myself in slow-motion permanently and hypnotically, methodically, work my way through entire stages slicing up each goon or monster a dozen times or more. It doesn’t sound like much, but that cheap slow-motion effect was the height of technological gimmickry the N64 was capable of, and about the goriest thing you could find on that platform until Doom 64 eventually chainsawed its way onto the scene.
